Olympic Torch Visit

Fauns were super lucky today. Val Everett, olympic torchbearer, came to visit our class and show the children the torch and tell her story. She was nominated for the honour by her daughter, Abie Everett, who is currently on work experience in our class. It's been such a pleasure to meet Val this afternoon and we'd like to thank her again for making the effort to come in and give the children such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Have a look at some of the Fauns holding the photos here.

African Mask-Making

A wonderful day was had in Fauns on Friday. Ali and Kaitlin, 2 artists from a company called Tinhouse, came to help us create giant African masks from willow.

The children spent the first part of the day looking at a wide variety of traditional masks and then having a go at designing their own. They then shared their ideas with their group to come up with a joint final design.

They then spent the rest of the day using willow of different thicknesses and LOTS of masking tape to create their masks. They were huge!

The skill and teamwork that the children demonstrated was amazing and we're looking forward to finishing them off this week and getting to see the finished product.

Thank you to our parent helpers, Kate, Sandy, Dean, Lisa and Rebecca, who came to help and really supported the children throughout the day.

Next week, we're finishing them off and then moving onto papering (tissue paper and lots of glue) and decorating. I can't wait!

Have a look at the photos below to see some of the things we got up to. Thank you to Andrew for his great photography and well done everyone for all your hard work.

Archetypes

Hello, If you write your poem in Word or any other word processing program and then save it, you can click on the 'Poems' folder in 'English' on Year 3's part of the VLE and upload it for us all to read. I hope this helps. Feel free to email me on cothacehe7cr8@nsix.org.uk if you would like more clarification. Miss O

Stop The Clock

This morning, despite some slightly impeding technical issues, Fauns have been using everything they know about time to play Stop The Clock. Here they are working really hard...

We are adventurers - Africa

I am so excited! I've been in (a very quiet!) school for the past few days moving our classroom around a bit and, with Miss Peck's help, building up our Africa display ready for our 'We are adventurers' learning after the Easter break.

I've got a couple of hours' worth of work left but have a look at the results so far...

I'm so excited and hope the children are feeling the same about our brilliant summer term.

See you all in a couple of weeks!
